The Icom M73 Handheld VHF Radio is a sturdy, durable radio with an ergonomic design that fits nicely in the user's hand. Bright, easy-to-read characters are provided by the huge screen and high-intensity LCD. The optional VOX headset and adapter, which allows someone managing dock lines to use both hands while docking the boat and talking with the skipper, is available to yacht clients.

The radio was tested to see if it could survive 30 minutes submerged in 1.5m (4.9ft) of water.

Loud Audio

The audio output of the IC-M73 is doubled thanks to a BTL (bridge-tied load) amplifier. Its internal speaker produces a powerful, clear 700mW audio output. The 6 Watt transmit power of the IC-M73 will give the user a longer communication range. Under typical conditions, a big capacity Lithium-Ion battery can run for 16 hours.
